As Director of Advertising and Promotion for Group W Satellite Communications (1981-82), Kurt Aldag helped launch The Nashville Network and The Disney Channel, as well as two cable newschannels. As head of Aldag Communications, he re-positioned and re-launched a cable programming service called TV Watch, produced by United Media Enterprises (a Scripps-Howard Company), and wrote, produced, and executed a multi-media campaign featuring TV, radio, newspaper, direct mail, and subway billboards that launched New York City's first wireless cable TV system. He also created a direct marketing campaign for a direct broadcast subscription (DBS) marketer in Washington, D.C.. In addition, as head of Aldag Communications, Kurt Aldag created trade advertising, promotion and publicity campaigns for electronic equipment makers serving the cable TV industry, including an automated ad inserter from United Media Enterprises.
